Welcome and thanks for visiting my blog, I'm Lynn and I love photography. Aside from photography, I'm a wife and mother to a handsome, hard working husband and wonderful son. Ever since I was a little girl I've always loved people, art, light, and playing dress up and that’s the reason I decided to take up photography; because it’s an art that combines all the things I've loved all my life.

Portrait Session | Amanda | Rocklin, CA

This shoot was so great, not only because I was photographing a beautiful, down to earth model in a gorgeous location but because I made my first home made 'frock'!  I was inspired by Sue Bryce (as are many photographers) and decided to give it a go.  I opted to borrow a sewing machine as opposed to trying this by hand, and learned the technicalities of frock making from you tube videos.  I found the videos by Anjou Clothing and Vintage to be the most informative.

My skirt ended up being around 15 tulle layers with a couple different types of tulle.  (Thank you Jazz for your help with the pleating!)  I also added a lining to it.  Maggie's matching bow was made out of left over tulle from the skirt.     After shooting some portraits with it long, we decided to cut it a little shorter.  So simple, we were able to do it right there at the shoot.  By doing this we were able to create a total of 3 different looks in a relatively short amount of time.

I had so much fun doing this, I think I just might try some more dress making soon.  Happy frock-making!    :)
