Welcome and thanks for visiting my blog, I'm Lynn and I love photography. Aside from photography, I'm a wife and mother to a handsome, hard working husband and wonderful son. Ever since I was a little girl I've always loved people, art, light, and playing dress up and that’s the reason I decided to take up photography; because it’s an art that combines all the things I've loved all my life.

Child Portrait Session | Hailey | Studio

This week, on and off, I've been watching CreativeLive and I'm finding myself inspired by Zack Arias' rags to 'being able to purchase tires' story.  This gave me a photo challenge:  traditional studio shots in my home.  Although I'm really hoping to buy some fancy lighting equipment in the near future, in the meantime I have to make what I got work....  These shots were taken in my very, very small dining area with a small black blanket pinned to the wall.  I used two off camera flashes, one with a shoot through umbrella (main light) and the other shooting through a shoot through disc set at low power just to separate the model from the background.  Being that I shoot almost always outdoors, I'm pretty happy with these shots and think Hailey's mom will be too.  :)

Just to give you an idea of how small I'm talking, here are a couple of images capturing this small little space:

I love shots like these because it proves that you don't have to have the most expensive gear to be a good photographer... just a passion and heart for it, and knowing how to utilize your resources.  :)

Alexis | Headshot-Portfolio Building | Old Folsom, CA

A couple weeks ago I met up with Alexis for a portfolio building session.  It was such a joy working with Alexis - with her talent and sweetness, I have no doubt that she's going to shine!  We started out in the town of Old Folsom and then worked our way down to the Old Power House and then ended our session at the walk bridge.  Here are my favorite shots:

Stephanie + Neil | Married | Sacramento, CA

Stephanie and Neil's wedding was a last minute booking, and I'm really glad I was available.  They're a fun loving couple and I had a great time capturing their day.  The ceremony took place at the beautiful St. John's Lutheran Church in downtown Sacramento and the reception took place at Elks Tower.

Some of my favorite shots from the day:

I love, love, love this veggie centerpiece and this homemade ornament!  The ornaments were handcrafted and were the wedding favors for all of the female guests.  These ornaments have been a family tradition (on the bride's side) for years.  :)

And last, my favorite photo of the day  :)
